I've chosen to bring you a character from Alan Moore's groundbreaking series watchmen. This is a book that has a class taught specifically about it at UCSD, a major university in San Diego. It is filled with symbolism, psychological discussions, diatribes on the human condition, and general observations about things that not only describe the human desire for recognition and identity but also perhaps predict the positives and negatives of the actual superhero movement and fan culture as a whole.
It asks some pretty heart hitting questions. Just what drives these people? Is it neurosis? Is it Feeling? Is it a lack of social acceptance? Is it sadness? Isolation? Optimism? Identity?
The problem with anything that asks hard hitting questions in today's world is that nine times out of ten, it's going to make people angry. Hence. PERMISSIONS POST.

I fancy myself an eloquent speaker. Occasionally I like to shoot my words out into the dark to see if they make an impact. Sometimes they do.
To basics then. what drove you to play this ugly fucker?
If I were to question the psychological aspects of me wanting to play large hairy men I'm sure it would delve into something about my relationship with my own father. It's not pretty. Since that's painfully personal, let's just say I identify with big ugly soldier types. maybe I was one in another life, maybe I just have a father-loving complex. It's worth noting that June 2012 I'll be apping a slim non-hairy soldier type who's a good guy, then July (or possibly june?) I'll be apping a girl who really wants to stick around so.
You do know what he's done right?
I am painfully aware of what David Gibbons and Alan Moore wrote about him, yes.
He's a sick fuck and he doesn't deserve rehabilitation.
In the days leading up to me apping this character I've had at least five people come up and talk about how excited they are to see him. On the hand I could think one thing, on the other they genuinely enjoy the character. So they want to see him. I don't think that at all. I just think that not playing him if the opportunity came up would be a disservice.
Plus, dragons man.
So why this big list? And all these anon questions? Is this the biggest most incredible display of paranoia since G Gordon Libby and Richard Nixon?
I want to offend no one. Sometimes I do it accidentally. Sometimes I get so angry that I can't take my feels off the internet in time and I shoot off annoying Ims to people expression my emotions. I'm totally and utterly fine with owning up to my faults online and in real life. The more I try to hide them, the more it backfires
So this is a hopefully humorous way to illustrate feels about beginning this little adventure and also explain where I'm coming from. To ease you all into this gently. I would love to explain it personally but the fact is-I can't. I cannot approach all of you equally, listen to your concerns and alleviate them. Some of you I bet don't really want me to. This guide is supposed to help me with that.
So! Tell us how you intend to do this and deal with the issues broached in the comic.
The Rape of Sally Jupiter and his attitude towards women are in the past and a concern for his warden. In research for other projects I have learned that acts of barbarism in war are not uncommon and the sad fact is that a lot of these people coming from this kind of background and going into a situation where one nation pits itself against another don't come home. That in no way excuses what the comedian did, but the times he lived in, the environment he was raised in, and a ton of other factors made him a bastard.
His actions aren't justified, but that doesn't mean there's no room for improvement. His arc isn't about becoming puppies and kittens or even getting back to a point where he can deal with society again. He needs to learn to be a better soldier and have a cause to fight for. (although if he got back in with his daughter that would be nice.) The reason for all the words is simply that, ...so far he's the only character I've seen apart from the mysterious one who shows up on fourth wall day. I'm worried about squick and I figure giving people a little insight wouldn't hurt right? That and if you aren't familiar you should be made aware of what he's capable of.
This is a man who will play to kill at any opportunity and he has very little regard for human life. He's a misogynist and a prick. Please cut him down to size.
And you're forgiving this? That's your strategy?
No man can forgive someone for the sins of the past, not completely. If anything my own personal experiences have taught me that those things do not go away, the important thing is to accept them and move forward.
The comedian's past will be treated just as that, the past. It will be an issue for his warden to deal with alone. Further instances will be heavily planned out and put behind a cut with warnings.
And if you want to tag women? Some of us play girls.
I will approach you if you have any concerns. I ask you also approach me and do me the courtesy of bringing any concerns to me personally if our characters happen to tag. I'm more then willing to sit and listen. I'm having fun and I'm more prepared for the consequences of this then I ever have been and so. Bring me your concerns, your troubles, and I will listen and hopefully we can work toward an amicable situation that benefits the both of us.
However I want to be sensitive to everyone's concerns, so leave me a note about your feels. :) Personal or otherwise.

Earlier we discussed censorship. Refusing to tag me does in no way inhibit the situation from working. It's not censorship. I have included a permissions form at the end of this post. In it there is a little box. "Okay to Tag" If you say no, then I will not tag you at all. No triggers, nothing man. It's totally cool. We will be bros forever.

...I am more then prepared for the actions that will result in any and all CR because I know that people know this canon a lot better then other canons. If we haven't watched the movie then you've read the comic book (You're on the internet. Everybody remember the internet test? It was on there. Questions five-10 XD)
And I know that you all respect the lengths I'm going to to make playing with this fucker easier. So you'll appreciate my efforts to have fun giving this guy a redemptive arc. Splaying everything across the wall like arterial spray is not how the comedian rolls. He'll just, stab you in the gut and run.
